Creating an Irresistible Email Autoresponder Series Part 2

Ok, we’ve previously talked about creating an email autoresponder series-one that readers just can’t ignore. We talked about how the best way to start out the series was a simple response to the subscribers acting on our invitation and actually responding, and subscribing to our emails. That was step one. We responded to their interest with a simple thank you, and the assurance that someone would soon be in touch with them to provide further information, and we left it at that. Being certain to follow up in a prompt and attentive, but never pushy manner, we sent out a second email with an interesting article about our subject, and a link to some sort of incentive. Always cautious to avoid a sales pitch, we never-the-less always want to be thinking about ways to convert this interest to a sale somewhere along the line. This article is about our next two steps, and some ideas to keep in mind when crafting your next email messages to your subscribers.

In college writing classes, students are often given the masterful guideline; tell the audience what you’re going to tell them, tell them, and then tell them what you’ve told them. A similar approach is useful in your email messages, when using an auto responder series. Subsequent messages should always build on the previous ones, while add to their meaning and content, and gently repeating the previous information; look for ways to sway the readers minds. We want to psychologically move them into position where a final sale can be made. It makes sense then, that the third and fourth messages should acknowledge the previous ones, show appreciation for the readers’ continued interest, and provide new ways of looking at and researching the subject.

The third letter, or email in your autoresponder series should be an article, not a link, but an actual article. You don’t want the reader to have to do any additional clicking or looking, give them the article you want them to read in the body of the email. Make sure and keep it fairly short, something that the reader can take in quickly and become interested in; more importantly make them want more information about it. Remember to tell the reader thank you for the time they take to read the article. Conclude with a message that you will be in touch again very soon, and again-follow through and make it happen.

When you next make contact with your subscriber, this time provide them with a link to a web page where they can learn more. Make this link either to a portal to the web page where you are selling your product, or a web page where they can learn more about it. Better yet, link to a page where they can learn more, and then make it re-direct to another page where the reader can compare products side-by-side. Above all, keep your reader interested, and make them want to learn more and then tell them!
