There are many ways you can build business credit. One of the easiest ways is to establish a separate business profile. This business profile will be a separate entity from your personal one. In many ways, this can be seen a good thing, as you can open up lines of credit separate from your personal credit history. This can open up resources for your company such as starting new lines of credit, issuing credit cards, loans and much more. The basic process of seperating your personal credit profile from a business is to quaify your company as a separate entity. In other words, you can form a LLC service. There are multiple ways to go about doing this and your local Secretary of State should have information on the specific process and forms needed. You will also need to obtain a Federal Employer Identification Number, also known as FEIN. This is obtained by the IRS and is used to create an incorporation or LLC Formation service.

The next main step would be to open a separate business bank account. This is one of the easiest ways to build business credit. This means that funds (revenue, profit, etc.) created by the business must remain separate from personal funds. The next essential process is to obtain a D-U-N-S number. This is a nine digit number which is issued by the Dun & Bradstreet. This number is what many other companies and professionals use to verify the credit history of a paticular business. To make this process easier, it is a good idea to make sure you are organized and have obtained the appropriate things for running a business such as licenses, insurance and permits. There are many start-up lists available on the Internet for needed documents and permits for certain businesses.

Another way to make your business open and legit to the public is by listing it in the Yellow Pages. This is one of the biggest directories available on the Internet. They also have a traditional print publication which is used by many. It is important that the address used for the DUNS number is the same as the address listed in the Yellow Pages directory. The address should also be the same for company credit cards, business licenses and permits.

There are many companies who grant new businesses credit cards or loans. In most cases, you will have to make an agreement through a contract (which is legally binding). There are programs available to those looking to build up their business credit in less than 4-6 months. Anyone can build business credit.
