Internet marketing can allow small business owners to reach a variety of potential customer and consumers from all over the world; however, there is nothing like local advertising. Local advertising has the ability to obtain loyal customers who will return for more service and/or products. Also, consumers are more likely to trust small businesses that are close to their area. There are multiple ways to obtain local customers, such as;

Local Classified Advertising- Taking out print classified ads are affordable and cost effective. Other websites that allow local small business advertising include online free classified ads. There are literally thousands of these type of websites with their own category. Some of the top classified sites allow their ads to get indexed by Google. These sites also allow you to target a niche and specific location.

Visual Advertisment- This type of advertising is more costly, as you have the potential to reach a larger audience. Of course, visual advertisement has become less effective since the services and products may not reach a targeted audience. With visual advertisements, you may pay to have your business advertised on grocery bags, bulletin boards, cellular phones, automobiles, etc. The key is to reach as many people as possible. This type of advertisement can range anywhere from $100 to $5000. Most of these advertising methods require contracts and written agreements between the advertiser and the advertising agency.

Print Brochures and Flyers- Print advertisment in the form of flyers and brochures has always been a cost effective method of providing small business advertising. Creating brochures is as simple as using a free computer program (Microsoft Publisher). Most public libraries allow free or cheap printing for flyers and brochures. Some small business owners hire college students to pass out these flyers in areas that are highly populated (such as the mall or festivals).

No matter how you go about advertising, driving local business will always result in more business. It is also easier to build a close relationship with local consumers, which is essential for the success of your company. The same clients will continue to come back, day after day, for services and products that can help to solve their own problems. The key to becoming successful with small business advertising is to use cost-effective techniques and to be consistent with your advertising efforts.
